People can be prejudiced against many aspects of identity: nationality, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, political affiliation (e.g., liberals, conservatives, feminists), social membership (e.g., fraternity and sorority members), appearance (e.g., hair color, height), and professions and hobbies. Prejudice, along with stereotyping and discrimination, can be highly destructive and harm all individuals, whether they are in minority groups or majority groups; therefore, it is essential to understand where prejudice comes from, how it is sustained, and what effective strategies might be used to reduce it.
For this Discussion, you will examine prejudice, stereotyping, and discrimination against a specific group, as well as strategies for reducing prejudice.
Post a 150- to 200-word response, in which you:
Identify a group that experienced or is experiencing prejudice in the 20th- or 21st- century. You should not be a member of the group, nor should you personally oppose the group. Describe the prejudice against the group based on your reading of Jhangiani and Tarry (2022) (https://opentextbc.ca/socialpsychology/part/stereotypes-prejudice-and- discrimination/) . Next, identify a stereotype of the group. Then, identify discrimination associated with the group. Describe one cause of the prejudice against the group based on your reading of 9.2 of Daffin and Lane (2021) (https://opentext.wsu.edu/social-psychology/chapter/module-9- prejudice/#9.2) . Describe one strategy for reducing prejudice against this group based on your reading of 9.3 of Daffin and Lane (2021) (https://opentext.wsu.edu/social- psychology/chapter/module-9-prejudice/#9.3) ,

Respond to at least one colleagues initial post about a group different from the one you posted about in one of the following ways:
Based on your reading of 9.3 of Daffin and Lane (2021) (https://opentext.wsu.edu/social-psychology/chapter/module-9-prejudice/#9.3) , recommend a different strategy for reducing this particular prejudice against the group. Provide a specific example of what that would look like in practice. Based your reading of 9.2 of Daffin and Lane (2021) (https://opentext.wsu.edu/social- psychology/chapter/module-9-prejudice/#9.2) , describe a possible alternative cause of the prejudice against the group.
