The claim is the statement which is spoken by the speaker and it could be either true or it can be considered to be false. There are two types of descriptive claim and normative claim. The descriptive claim can be explained as the statement made by the speaker where the speaker mentions about the case in a manner where the intention is to provide the statement which touches only the main point. In the case of descriptive claim, the claim is made directly to the listener. This is done when the speaker is very sure about it. On the other hand the normative claim can be termed as the claim that is made by the speaker where the speaker is not sure about the claim. Moral claims are to be considered as the normative claims as it contains the choice of words or the claims it brings on the table which might become a fact in the later stage. Normative claims are to be considered as the claim which values the judgement of any kind. This means the judgement might be right or it may be wrong. Descriptive claim on the other hand are claimed to be unfit for the valuation of any kind of judgement.
There are many examples of normative claims. When the claim made by the speaker in the terms of showing the difference between the two tangible and intangible items then the claim can be termed as the normative claim. When the claim made by the speaker where it provides a view on any kind of act or incident like “that was really stupid things to do”. There are other examples which can be involved in this scenario like “if you want to pass the test then you need to work harder”. When the claim made by the speaker on the basis of the judging something then then that term can be termed as the normative claim. The very good example for this is “Your diagram resulted being normal”. Any kind of claim made on the state or the condition of the country can also termed as the normative claim. The statement may be “The state should not impose such act otherwise it will create havoc between the citizens”.
In case of the descriptive claims are the claims which are made by the speaker when the speaker wants to express the situation which he or she is currently in. For example, “the coffee in the cup is in room temperatures”. When the speaker wants to express the felling by claiming which is made on him or herself are to be termed as the descriptive claims. For example, “I had milk in breakfast”. When the claims are made on someone’s character or body structure can be termed as the descriptive claim. For example, “Lara is pretty tall than average girl of her age”. The descriptive claims are said to be the claims which make no value to the judgments.
