Artists are central to cultural, political and social discourses around the world. They are here not only to inspire us, but to provoke us as well. Artists have a responsibility to use their works as a weapon against the status quo and to break cultural and social barriers.
Creative artists-writers, photographers, painters, filmmakers, musicians, etc— should always be given the freedom to express their own ideas in whichever way they wish. There should be no public or government restrictions on what they do.
