Hello Everyone,

For this exercise I laid out my 4 year plan. I did this before a year ago when I turned 30. I wanted to plan out my next 5 years to see where I wanted to be and how I would get there. This time was a little different. I wrote out my overall goal for where I want to be at the age of 35. Then I wrote out each thing that I need to accomplish to reach my goal. After looking at what I laid out, I realized that I stated the exact same to do items last year. This pushed me to evaluate what I have already accomplished within that year time frame. What strides have I already taken toward reaching that goal, and while I have made good progress, It was not much but then I had to take another step back and see why. Well I made this great plan last year and didn’t include having a baby in the equation. I didn’t expect to get pregnant so of course it was not laid out in my plan. With that thought, This time I am sticking to my plan but leaving room for the unexpected as well.

This exercise forced me to reflect on my actions and thought process, which I enjoyed doing. I believe my goals and steps are achievable but I learned a hard lesson from my last planning session. Prepare to keep pushing toward the goal through all obstacles. Life is not white and black, there is definitely some grey areas and even with that, I know I can be where I want to be in 4 years. Laying these steps out was very beneficial to my growth process. It allowed me to visually see what I wanted and reflect on how to get there. I saved the document that I used to lay out my plan so that next year I can go back and see where I am compared to where I was today and where I want to be at 35. Critical thinking can help everyone just as it did for me but in many different ways. there is no stopping point for critical thinking in your life.
