INTRODUCTION

An introduction is generally one short paragraph that gives readers a hint on what is discussed in the essay. Therefore, you should always try to analyze and refine the information for the various parts of the intro to ensure that it meets the required threshold for a good one.

Even if you are planning to use an anecdote or short story, always make it simple and short but relevant to the subject of discussion or your main argument. In order to avoid a lengthy introduction, always include only the important and necessary points.

Avoid vague statements and very technical statements that might confuse your readers. However, the length of the opening paragraph and information shared therein may vary from one paper to another depending on the subject and writer?s intentions.

COMPANY BACKGROUND

Describe the company that is being evaluated.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Some alternatives for the title of this chapter are Problem Development, Development of the Problem, or Introduction. This chapter should answer the questions: what research you will develop, why it is important, and what you expect to accomplish with the development of the research.

Present a brief introduction of the research, explaining the problem/situation that originated this work.

PROBLEM ENGINEERING ANALYSIS

A Problem Analysis investigates a situation/problem in order to allow the researcher to understand more fully the problem, in order to recommend practical solutions for solving it.

In addition, a Problem Analysis determines the degree of the problem and if the problem is a genuinely related to the specific site under investigated. For example, a workplace can request that a study be conducted to estimate the cost and time involved in installing a new lighting system because a number of employees have filed insurance claims because of eye problems. Before investigating the cost of lighting, a problem analysis would determine the degree that the lighting is affecting employees or if the lighting is not actually the problem. It may be that, after reviewing records, the eye problems are isolated to workers in one particular shop. In this case, the problem analysis study would recommend solutions related to this particular area.

However, it could also be determined, after further investigation focused on interviewing the workers in the shops, that the lighting was not the cause of the problem. Instead, the interviews determined that the workers were staying up all night studying for classes that they were taking. Thus, the problem analysis would report that the lighting was not the cause of the problem, saving the company time and money.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Your recommendations, seek to propose specific solutions. If you have concluded that drug abuse among young people is a growing problem, then you should recommend steps to address the problem. It is not enough to recommend simply that action be taken; try to be more specific. Your recommendations could range from a high-profile media campaign focused to reach young people (with information spots airing on MTV rather than BBC World, for example) to a project to gather more detailed information.

CONCLUSIONS

Generally there are three covered things in the Conclusions section. Each one of them usually merits a separate subsection. They are: Most important findings, Limitations, and Summary of Contributions and Future Research. Conclusions are not a rambling summary of the research. They are short and concise statements of the inferences that you have made because of your work. It helps to organize these as short numbered paragraphs, ordered from most to least important.

All conclusions should be directly related to the research question stated in the Problem Statement of Research Question. Examples:

The problem stated in Section ?x? has been solved: as shown in Section ?y? to ?z?, an algorithm capable of handling large-scale Ptolemy problems in reasonable time has been developed. The principal mechanism needed in the improved Ptolemy algorithm is the Newton mechanism.
