The General Social Survey (GSS) is a large scale survey funded through the National Science Foundation. It collects demographic data and attitudinal questions as well as data on topics of special interest. Except for the U.S. Census, the GSS is the most frequently analyzed source of information for the social sciences. In 2014, the survey asked a sample of young males (ages 18 – 24) the question ‘ If working, full or part time: how many hours did you work last week, at all jobs?’ The responses are available in the file ‘HoursWorked.txt’ posted on the homework website.
